And you'll have to reboot after using it as it leaves the wi-fi adapter in promiscuous mode.

You dont always have to reboot... you can go to Offline mode then switch back.

So isn't there any way to add symbolic link to the "kismet" application, so that there is some icon on somewhere?

What actually "becomeroot_0.1-2_armel.deb" install do?

I tried to launch Kismet via Xterm on the device and i got error for Interface Wlan0: Permission denied.

This has to be that root access is not there.
I have done that (http://maemo.org/community/wiki/howdoibecomeroot/) root thing :

1. I edited the usr/sbin/gainroot for acordigly (MODE=enabled #`/usr/sbin/chroot /mnt/initfs cal-tool --get-rd-mode`)
2. sudo gainroot via SSH
2. I altered root's password with passwd via SSH.

Is this right?

Did you enable the offline mode via the power button before running kismet as a root?

The main problem might be that I do not know to to become a root via XTerm. via SSH root/rootme works..

I'm a bit confused what this means. Aren't I the device owner always root and why doesn't rootme work on Xtream?

I have always started kismet from a clean startup.

Follow this guide: http://examplified.net/guide/Nokia_7...d_Root_Access/

bu basically once you've downloaded Xterm and 'becomeroot' all you have to do at the prompt is type 'sudo gainroot' and it's done. then just type kismet

EXCELENT! Sudo gainroot works greatly and root console comes up.

Is there any way to build a script (that can be launhed via launher applet or some other way without typing all of this) that can launch kismet?

kismet works now btw. Thanx!
