I haven't seen him in a while. Hope he is doing great. Maybe he was put in one of the covid camps: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mGFdWcJU7-0

Hiya Dave
Naw...I've been popping in at least once a week ...read the posts..etc.

Glad everyone here seemed to have had a good Thanksgiving.

I'm fine.
I live on a small island, take an empty ferry to work, work 4 nights a week on graveyard shift (soon to be 3 nights a week...I am cutting back my hours so I can spend more time at home..), I work by myself, my workplace is disinfected by staff, I grocery shop right after work when the stores first open, and head home on a virtually empty ferry home..
Had my 2 shots (necessary for my job), and am in fine health.
The likelihood of my catching covid is pretty slim...and even if I do..I am in fab health and likely only get the sniffles at worst.

I've been spending my weeks between work, home renos, carving and painting, and working out in my home gym (I have a gym that is stellar) since way before covid caught us all 2 odd years ago.
As far as I am concerned, nothing has changed in my day to day compared to before covid, other than wearing a mask, and being a bit more A.D.D. about handwashing and touching objects...
Walk in the park man..

Big thing out here has been the rains the fires this last summer, the temperatures, and the 6 month drought...at least until this last month..that is...torrential rains, flooding, mudslides , landslides , have done a number on us out here...
With highways cut off from the rest of Canada, groceries and supplies from over the mountains ground to a halt...goods from south of us in the USA get through ..and from overseas...but it has been trying for those unprepared ...
Living on a small island , folks here stock their freezers and pantries with canned and dry goods ..
Me..I have about a years supply of goods.
Only thing I need the odd time are perishables...fresh dairy, veggies or fruit...but don't particularly need anything...so ...I am fine..

Where I live ...I'm ok..
.I bought smart...drought didn't bother me...nor the fires on the mainland...
Rains haven't bothered me either..
and covid even less.

That's what's been happening with me, glad everyone seems fine...
Looking forward to Christmas

Cheers for now.

I use filled up public transportation each work day, eat in restaurants, and as my work I visit eight different elementary schools per week and work in classes filled with kids. And I smoke a pack per day at the moment, eat a lot of sugar and fat and do not exercise. Plus I sleep very little (last night for an hour) and am stressed all the time because so much going on in my life.

So my odds are not so good and I am baffled why I haven't died yet. But couple of weeks ago my friend asked me to work for him. Not getting more money, my yearly vacation dropps from 38 days + 19 days vacation salary changed to days - to 24 days. In my work I have now free public transportation 24/7/365 which I loose too and no health care other than public compared to city work health care I have now. Been in this job for fourteen years, have build a car, a motorcycle and many computers and woodwork and speakers and paintings and everything in my work place, and have had 7 storage rooms for my projects in different schools. I loose all that as well as freedom to work in my own time and as my own boss. My job has been a sort of a dream job and at the same time been a golden cage. Have not been able to leave even though I have wanted.

Still I am planning to go to work for my friend. Have become too much of a slave to my routines in life. Now I have to change which is good.

Happy to see you alive, Endormeans. Looking good as always with a massive quality post! Didn't know Thanksgiving was a thing as a Canadian. Had to do some googling right there.

Maemish, sounds like you doing are doing the right thing. There is no such thing as a dream job. You are basically trading time for money in all jobs. The only job that is a dream job is when you making money while you sleep. That way you can do whatever you like whenever you like in life.

The only annoying thing is that there is pandemic and different countries have different rules and that limits the movements. Some have massive covid camps, some mandatory vaccinations or vaccination checks while going for a meal, some almost no restrictions at all.

To me it seems that covid will be able to catch us all eventually.

Yeah, Christmas will be great! Santa and snow!

Of course we have Thanksgiving in Canada ..Dave..
Pretty much all the holidays you can think of ...we have.
Since we are a multicultural country here ..we ...well the majority of folks... That is..encourage everyone to enjoy their cultural holidays...and the holidays of others...
Thanksgiving is one of the oldest in this country...pretty much a universal holiday really.. A meal prepared from the reaped harvest and labour of the past growing season (Canada was originally an agricultural country with more farms and farm families than anything)..."Giving thanks" for a good harvest originally is what it is for...but also giving thanks for family, health etc...

Oh and we do Christmas here too Dave

Why move? Take a trip. You always get the best of the country while you are visiting and don't have to mess with all the annoying things that all societies have.

Do Mexicans have Thanksgiving as well? Yes, they do. Never seens stuffed turkey while traveling there or in Canada. To me chicken is more tasty and softer. But then again. Usually going for seafood while traveling so maybe that's the reason.

I will start with the basics...speed is key. You don't want to be stuck in the kitchen
