I completely agree you can't stop people from adding to wiki's, loads of unregistered users have provided useful info over many years.
Also the wiki page has a simple math problem to avoid autobots.

From the information that is spammed on the wiki's it seems like it may not be autobots anyway.

As for TMO I like the idea of captcha's also I wish it would direct you to the beginners wiki page's for the first few posts.

Now these type of users should be banned instead of banning Arie...

Can't they ban the IP addresses of these people?

Just report them so I get notified and take care of them.

Once I ban them, their IPs get sent to a database tht other forum sites can use as well. When you see those posts here, that means they've found a new IP that's not yet in the global spammer database, and that's why they can register for an account.

Thanks.

And what been suggested before there should be a specific number of thanks ! to start threads and the same of Karma to edit wikis... this step will be very good in TMO if it is done ( i hope )

./sifo
yes there should be a minimum karma to edit wikis and new users should never be allowed to edit wikis.

and about threads problem most of the new members come here and start a new thread just to ask some questions about their device or to solve some problem they are facing. putting minimum thanks or karma to create new threads wouldn't be a good idea.

about spamming our mods are doing great job. when they receive report about a spam thread they remove them immediately.

I completely disagree! This destroys the concept to a wiki page.

Hence why I suggested a refer to wiki scheme on the first few posts.

It seems this football spammer is rather clever

They have pre-registered 20 odd accounts months ago.
Only to start using them for spam when required.

is it possible to be a moderator just to delete/block this obvious spam threads? I wont be doing anything else... but it gets annoying when there are more than 3 spam threads on the Active Topics "please wait more than 60 seconds between reports"
