Running Android apps is all nice and well but...

That is sadly a deal breaker for me I would not touch Chrome with a long stick.

Yeah... And to think I used to like Firefox... But what options does one have left (on the desktop, that is)? Opera? Also with bells and whistles bolted on. Midori? Epiphany? Pretty much anything I can think of is half cooked or abandoned and does not work on half the web sites.

At least on the N900 we have MicroB (and now QML Browser)

update, we need to run the plugin through scratchbox for it to work on ARM.
We need someone with working scratchbox to stick Chromium and this APK plugin for it to work.

You want the old chromium for n900? well i do have the deb but is it fine to upload and share it? wasnt it taken down from repos?

Chromium != Chrome. We need Chromium, or specifically Chrome for that?

Anyway, you can test both in Easy Debian.

I would hope Google made it arm-compatible as well, given that many Chromebooks are ARM-powered.

Well, I'm skeptical to this:
1. It requires Chrome 37+. Building Chromium ~20 required a lot of new(er) libraries, I think it might be impossible to build Chromium 37+ for Maemo
2. It uses amd64 binaries. _platform_specific directory is full of them.
3. Performance. Remember prewebenv? It was sluggish in Easy Debian, not much better natively.

I'm all for a chroot solution. If anyone decides to try it, I'm eager to contribute if someone undertakes creating "Easy Android" for Maemo.

marmistrz, we see that this, Alien Dalvik, and other projects; including our APKenv all wrap the APK into a compatibility package. amd64 libs really screw us and it is what I was fearing.
Guys like me who are better with an o-scope and soldering iron than code have to step up with outrageous stuff like this hoped for easy chance at running APKs even if it means just being told why it won't work.
I still have hope that we will either compile the stuff into KP for chrooting or we will find a way to replicate the old Alien Dalvik demos on the N900. I wonder if we asked nicely if they would unofficially leak the old install debs at this point for the N900?
Edit
Just reviewed the APK packager, it is Chromium(Chrome?) which has all the Dalvik magic, the packager does very little.

I'm glad to see someone's making good use out of my DebiaN900 scripts.
This is a good example of Debian's advantages over Maemo.

Have you tried running chromium --enable-webgl?

Code:
--enable-webgl
--enable-webgl --use-gl=egl
Same result
