Yep, this made it to the front page on maemo.org now.
I am unsure, as of Google+, that WP7 will have the people connection competitive edge it had over Android and iOS. Any thoughts on that? (Here is a good read: http://techcrunch.com/2011/06/28/google-plus/)

There maybe some hope finally:

Maybe the end of this partnership is closer than you think!!!

I would not read too much into that statement.
The financial ties between NOK and MSFT are quite tight.

Besides, the question was "is Nokia going to make an Android device?" and the answer was "Anything is possible" so I would rather read that as "Anything but Android is possible"

I think Elop said the same thing almost word for word sometime last year. From memory, it was when Engadget visited his Finland office. I don't really know why it was ignored then and picked up now.

Not big news I don't think, but Elop and others at Nokia have alluded to future offerings in a similar way. Only time will tell.

I believe the deal was for 2 years so there could be something into this. But even if they make an android phone it would probably be a fail because lots of good engineers have left nokia plus the name nokia is atm associated with fail in the consumer market so they have to come up with something really awesome and I don't believe they can.

Nokia has made a major mistake going from opensource to MS,
after 10+ yrs strictly using Nokia phone, I switched to samsung android
my family and friends moved to android
everybody happy

last year Nokia lost market share to samsung / android

even if in near future Nokia returns to opensource/android
it would be too late for me and most likely many others

happy customers rarely drop a brand unless dropped BY that brand

I am loyal to whatever serves me best when I need clean reliable technology

Its easy to loose a customer or market position (see yahoo)
but much harder or impossible to regain same position once wasted due to mismanagement and wrong decisions.

Last year Nokia got first global reaction when losing market shares to
samsung/android

money is the sweetest and most powerful opinion-changer when market shares go further down in 2013

next year all may look different
finally its a XX Billion dollar market (or more)
that/s more $ than just a tip

customers opinion may be of little interest to Nokia
buy dollars spent or NOT for Nokia products does a much better job than opinions and customer wishes
