I think it is plausible that aliens at least occasionally communicate using music, which clearly transcends most of what comes out of people's mouths.

You can be totally correct in that assumption. But obviously music and singing doesn't need to be what we are talking about. A supersmart computer can create songs/singing via speekers, frozen ice can make sounds and sing...Then I think its more likley that aliens don't sing an just going for some unknown and crazy riffs.
Btw. What's up heat in Vancouver? Aliens or humans behind this global warming...
