About :
/scratchbox/tools/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure: No such file or directory

how did you fix that issue , seems that debconf is installed fine though ?

FWIW, I'm now getting the same D-Bus problems in my own Scratchbox (newly installed on a new machine running Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit).
