Hi I have bricked my N900.

I edited the rcs file in /etc/init.d/. Changed the swappiness, cluter numbers to 15 and 1. Switched off my device, changed the battery, switched it on. Nokia white screen shows for a few seconds and then device switches off again. Tried it five times and happens again and again.

My usb port does not work so I cannot reflash my device. Tried restore from the back up and restore app. It restored OptFS but that didnt work.

Any ideas? Can device be reflashed with no usb?

There is a restore RootFS in back up and restore but it says not recommended. Is this a possible solution?

Lol okay thanks. That may seem easiest way but is the longest way.

First I have to find a Nokia care point that fixes out of warranty. N900 is still within warranty of course but Nokia has refused to fix it because I live in the UK but bought the N900 in the US. Nokia Care point near me does not fix out of warranty. Then they have to get engineer to check how much it will cost to fix. Then I have to wait for them to fix it. Knowing Nokia I am sure that will be over a month.

For now I want a solution that allows me to use the device now as I am travelling tomorrow.

I guess your only option is to find a way to boot from the memory card, but I have no idea how you can enable that without access to the phones file system.

Maybe it's just crazy talk, but couldn't you use a ssh winscp client to connect to your phone and just correct the files you modded?

Well i gues you've had to have one setup allready to do it?

Btw never a good idea to tamper with your phone when you can't easiely flash it, imo

Lol yes my wife has been warning me for weeks to stop tampering with the device but it is very addictive.

I thought of Winscp but cannot seem to log on. Peharps the device bricked in offline mode.
