Dear Friends,

I am really curious about Maemo 5's Bonjour - zeoconf - Avahi support. As many knows, this autodiscovery protocol works great for chat, network shares, shared bookmarks, printers, VNC...Is there any "out of the box" support?

Concerning Chinook, Diablo, Chat and Bonjour, there is a very useful thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ighlight=avahi

http://thpmaemo.blogspot.com/2008/11...-on-maemo.html

I personally find interesting an eventual Global Bonjour functionality, à la "Back to my Mac".

For those new to Bonjour, infos can be retrived here and here. Concerning Avahi, the wikipedia page is here.

Best Regards,
Matyas

They have a package for Salut support in Fremantle Extras-devel.
I had link-local chat working sometimes if I manually started the avahi-daemon. Just like Summit 2008, I was the only non-laptop user at Summit 2009 to have it actually working.

Yep, every summit time this becomes useful again, and every time it doesn't quite work. Here's hoping for next year.

P.S. I trust you made it home ok Qole, none the worse for wear for the 80s singing... ?
