The "select applets" window has become un-usable after installing/running Debian.

How can I fix this ?

Sigh...

This is a known (and intentional) effect of Qole's chroot installer; it tweaks the WM so that dialogs get free-floated, because some Debian apps have dialogs that don't fit. A side-effect of this is that the apps start at (0,0), which is ugly; but it's now draggable, so just drag it. (I'm gonna recommend to Qole that the Debian installer make alarming noises about this during installation...)
