What is the deal with the metal battery cover? I have had it a day now, and the battery cover is already scratched? The brushed whatever sucks royally! Now if I ever want to sell it, I have to get a new battery cover.

I am really surprised, as my months old N770 is still in excellent condition, no scratches on aluminium cover and the unit alone in black has no scratches too.
It must be manufacturing or material defect.
Battery cover in N770 is in black and still in excellent condition.

Try to sell your car with scratches on eBay to see price difference.
I opt for material defect.

I agree with you, it shouldn't scratch up so easily. If it does then the quality is bad. After all, it is meant to be constantly carried and used is it not?

Whether you wish to sell or keep, and whether the device still works is irrelevant.

To say otherwise and to denigrate your experience is just fanboyism.

Nokia must be using the same material Apple used in their Ipod screens.

(Sorry, someone said 'fan boy')

I have had mine since NOV 17 and as always with nokia. The sliding part scratched the top left corner of the menu key. I probably can exchange it but it is just a little scratch and I'm used to it with my N95

Just love NOKIA soo much I cannot ***** about anything they do

Nokia is ok but has 5-year technology delay against competitors.
iPhone, iPod touch are both touch screen and work excellent.
5 years ago bought 3G Nec e616v, 2 years ago bought 3G Motorola A1000 with gps.
Nokia is ok, but competitors work harder and offer better models, more features at much lower prices.
Look at Samsung , at Samsung Wimax, already on a market.
European manufacturers are still some years behind manufacturers from Asia.
And look at overpriced N95 8GB at $1000.
Nokia should cut prices by half.
You can buy N810 at $500 and a new laptop with wifi at $500 in US.
Nokia charges in EU for its products double price it charges for the same products in US.

$1000 for N95 8GB is hard to believe.
