Until recently, location apps that have no valid GPS still showed a nearby location based on the network location.
Right now, the postion they *always* get through is:
Code:
Lat N 50,40000 +/- 160km
Long E 4,40000 +/- 160km
Obviously, this is wrong (it is a location near Charleroi, Belgium - about 100km from where I am)

The only thing I can imagine doing that changed this was:
Code:
- upgrade power kernel v46 to v47
- install CSSU
Does anybody have a clue what's going on, or a hint how to debug this? I already tried supl.nokia.com and supl.google.com - no difference (and yes, I have network location enabled)

Can somebody who has CSSU and power v47 see what location he gets when he disables GPS?

I will need a reliable GPS very soon on a trip and without network location the lock takes much much longer.

SOLUTION: invalid SSL certificate of supl.google.com + phone needs reboot after switching to supl.nokia.com

Yes: I have Power 46 and CSSU and my GPS is fine.

What does GPSJinny say? Do you have satellites?

The issue is when there is not a GPS lock, when using network positioning. But I have v47....

Exactly... No Network Positioning...

The lack of this feature makes the time to GPS lock endless

Maybe you should change the Thread Title to Cell or network location positioning broken (maybe CSSU bug)...

This gonna make more people see it

Erm, which is it? Approximate location by network address or a-GPS part that downloads ephemeris and catalogs?

Anyway. They both work for me. My zero-GPS home (reinforced concrete) still shows me to be on the right street. Software (GPSJinny) reports <500m error. Spotme is spot on .. heh. Nokia maps is also quite happy to point within 80 meters of my location, though the dot is dark (no accurate GPS).

Plugin says "Coarse accuracy"

OK, does that mean we can rule out CSSU? So v47 remains the only one causing it?

Seems that way. Or a combination of both?

As I reported several days ago in another thread, supl.google.com SSL certificate has expired and therefore it won't work correctly with the N900. If you are using supl.google.com you need change the address of the positioning server back to supl.nokia.com. After that, you should restart the phone to make sure the change takes effect.
