Patches:

  • "BT Jam"
Resolve problem with bt jam

Binary: -
Author: koos vriezen

  • Set of patches
"My patches modify the 1.1 version of John Costigan's Maemo Mapper to provide a second set of URI/Cache, e.g. to alternate between street maps and satellite images. The ESC-hardware-key now toggles the URI/Cache settings. (In the original version it toggles show/hide tracks.)

The modified version also introduces the possibility to operate with closed cover. (This is very useful for outdoor activities, such as hiking, walking, climbing, kanuing, cycling,..) If you want to disable the default behaviour, which disconnects the bluetooth GPS connection when the cover is closed, you have to unset the global configuration parameter 'Tools' -> 'Control Panel' -> Connectivity' -> 'Disconnect when cover on device"

  • Hybrid view
"Quite some time ago there was a question concerning maemo-mapper and hybrid images. Looks like there is no major obstacle displaying them - only some more hacking and having multiple mapping directories as precondition."

On the same page of Winmapper you have Winpoi. I can not succeed in getting Tomtom converted POIs (through Poiedit -> save as... -> kml) to being displayed on Maemo Mapper.

I always got the original database (that you created) as it is used as a base on which inserting the other POIs.

Did anyone tried to use it and got it working?

Not me. I use poi.mobilne.net - big set of poi (but only for poland) for automapa (very popular car navigation program in poland) in *.uam format, but it easy to convert (gpx) and parse it into sql script.

BTW: a lot of links about poi sources (in polish language): http://www.pdaclub.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36959

The winpoi works ONLY with Google Earth and only by exporting the whole My Places from Google Earth (right click on My Places->Save As... and select kml)

Thanks a lot for your answer, ioan. I'll try importing that kml into Google Earth, then, and export them to Maemo Mapper

Bye, Omar

No luck, I tried impoting the KML file into Google Earth and I can see all the POIs I need. Then, saved them as KML (and checked it with a text editor, it contains the POIs), but still I get an empty db (apart from the gasoline pumps in Poland)

I gave this a try by replacing the normal maemo-mapper binary with this one. It initially starts up fine but when it tried to connect to the GPS, it gives the message that the NMEA format is invalid and then crashes as soon as it finally make the connection to the GPS. This is one of those iBlue BT GPS modules that has worked brilliantly with the standard maemo-mapper. Is there something else that I am missing to integrate this version ... perhaps it is not a drop-in replacement for the latest maemo-mapper version?

Anyways ... I reversed the change and things are back to normal but I look forward to that functionality in the deb packaged version.

This patch parse different nmea sentence than oryginal maemo-mapper.

Install maemo-bt-plugin, connect to gps. In terminal type:
Code:
cat /dev/rfcomm0 > /media/mmc1/nmea.txt
Wait for fix. In terminal send Ctrl-C (disconnect gps) and send me (cezary [at] eko.one.pl) nmea.txt file.

first of all you have to export the whole My Places from google earth, not just one poi (right click on My Places->Save as...)
second, you do not copy the database created with winpoi from your pc to your nokia or you don't configure the right database in maemo-mapper... the database I create with winpoi does not have any gasoline pumps from Poland.
