i finally succesfully install on sdcard but no boot.scr or uImage... or the files go in special directory on computer's hard drive? i installed u-boot on pc and try to do this by myself. Copied the generated boot.scr and uImage on first fat partition. and copied item file on /etc/multiboot.d

On n900 U-boot PR1.3 and bootmenu is installed. tried to run sdboot but just got a black screen and reboot.

attached install.sh file (modified for work on mmcblk0) and item file. what am doing wrong?
Attached Files
File Type: txt install.sh.txt (17.3 KB, 173 views)
File Type: txt ubuntu.item.txt (257 Bytes, 104 views)

it seems that the problem comes from uImage ...
"wrong disk image, boot mmc 0" and black screen.

I had to copy uImage from /boot to / on the ubuntu-mobile partition. Also had to re-make the uInitrd according to this

The snippet in this post http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=383 is a part of the 'install.sh'-script, lines 306 to 312: You have to remove the "" around the text part
$image_name_raw $mountpoint_ubuntu
This removes the mount error.

Prepare your card on a Linux-PC, may even run a Live-CD. Three partitions: First vfat, second swap, third ext3 (ext4, if you want, but remember your choice ) Install the prerequisites from the first post of the thread. I used u-boot from this thread http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...40&postcount=1 , which needs some more configuration prior to a restart

Here is a short run-through: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=369 of the configuration #caveman uses. Note the part to change the ubuntu.item file for bootmenu/u-boot to point to the right partitions and file systems!

Final touches need to be done with the just-chroot.sh script inside the ubuntu-n900 to recreate /uInitrd and copy /boot/uImage to /uImage, as in this post http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=347

Personal Note:
Please ask precise questions with your error messages quoted to have some background info, what problems you are facing in the install process.

if you wanna discuss the debian installation, please start a thread for that.

you can find details of the configuration i used as well as some tweaks here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=296

i did that a dozen times, so i am sure that config works for me :-)
