I use the default video player + Subtitles support package for showing subs, and this combination was working properly until yesterday. movies are suddenly no longer showing subs.

I thought a simple reboot or reinstalling subtitles support would fix it, but subs are still not showing. The option to auto load the subs is ticked, Subs+Video are in the same folder and has the same name.

Mplayer still show subtitles but i can't get it to show arabic subs properly because there's no option to change the encoding.

Maybe mafw gst renderer is causing the problem?

Same here, I was seeing some movies with subs, but then suddenly they've dissappeared. Reinstall doesn't help. No equalizer (heard it causes problems with Subtitles Support package).

i think one of the following may be causing the problem:

- symfonie
- instinctive
- Mplayer + SiB
- Mediabox

should i try to remove them all?

Hmm, i don't have neither of these.
