Are people getting the additional12month ($49) warranty for the n900?
Is it really worth it?

It was discounted on the NokiaUSA site to $29 in Septembers pre-orders, and then I thought it was worth it. For $49 I would not purchase it, but that's just me.

My E90 has been replaced twice in a year under warranty. The first time the microphone failed. The second time the ear speaker failed. Both times I sent it in for warranty repair and I received a new phone as a replacement. Both parts were less than $10 and the phones were otherwise in almost perfect condition. Searching online I found many others who had similar problems.

I asked why my phones were replaced and learned that the Nokia repair center is not authorized to make any repairs to the E90. Their policy is to replace the phone while in warranty. After the warranty expires they can not repair the phone even if the customer pays.

Based on this I ordered the extended warranty when I preordered my N900.
