Nokia N9 light sensor on the top right corner has suddenly stopped working. Yesterday the phone fell on the the floor (screen downwards). I noticed that the screen from that side came out a little bit. When i push it, it gets inside. Basically the screen is not perfectly fitted. I did a soft reset which didnt worked. Then i did a hard reset which ( i dunno how ) completely removed the meego os, however i could boot to android through dual boot nitdroid. I then somehow managed to flash the dead n9 through phoenix.
the phone came to life but the problem persists..
the two problems that incurred were,

1. Double tap to unlock screen is now completely workless and i am compelled to use the unlock button

2. When i make a call , the screen becomes totally black , the other party picks the calls and i cant end it, even the unlock button doesnt works, the screen becomes completely black just as it was on my ear and the sensor was activated. The light comes when the other party ends the call. This is bugging me the most.
please helpppppp.

p.s . Just as u, i also believe it is a hardware issue and i cant take to nokia care bcoz it doesnot have warranty and they do not take phones wdout warranty here.

i would like to advice all n9 owners to take full care of the device bcoz it is fragile compared to other nokia smartphones. And yes, the nokia black cover was on when it fell.

the phone fell from knee height.

Sorry about the issue, but two suggestions for your problem.
To check if it is indeed a hardware problem, use a digital camera's viewfinder (another phone would do) and point it at the proximity sensor, you should see it blinking if it's working.

To disable the proximity sensor, edit /etc/mce/mce.ini as root, remove "proximity;" from the Modules= line, then restart mce (or reboot)
Code:
Modules=radiostates;filter-brightness-als;display;keypad;led;battery;inactivity;alarm;callstate;audiorouting;proximity;powersavemode
