Hi,
I'm a newbie in this forum, and have been trying to search around for similiar question. This forum is superb and extremely well organized. It has got tons of info and it is quite overwhelming.
I am trying to get a internet device, narrowing down to N810 or Itouch. I saw there are numerous thread to discuss the two devices, but I wish there is a store that can let me browse / play around the devices, that would be more convincing for me. I'm located in San Jose, CA, USA. The stores like circuit city, best buy, target wrapped up the itouch, no demo set. I couldn't find N810 ! I may have to purchase online. Anyone knows where I could browse the devices ??

I have some questions, hope to get answers from the experts :
1) the finger scrolling on itouch for internet web pages seems impressive, I saw recently, the N810 is able to do finger scrolling, is this N810 new apps/feature come close to that of Itouch ?
2) I am looking for some simple (educational) games such as simple matching, learning alphabets, counting, could anyone let me know which devices of N810 or Itouch has those games ? The games are more for my 4yr old kid.

Thanks !
Richard

I haven't substantially worked with iPhone/iPod Touch, but as far as I can tell from others' evaluations, browsing is similar in speed on both platforms, but different in feel. The iStuff has somewhat more fluid scrolling and especially zooming, but the N8x0, while less fluid, needs much less scrolling and zooming, because it has 2.5x the pixels. Some people prefer one, some the other. (I, as you might guess, prefer the N8x0.) Trying them both before deciding is probably best; hope you can find one to try.

As for available applications, you can check out http://downloads.maemo.org for descriptions and screenshots of many (but not all) available apps. I'm not watching the edu-games market, but I have seen that there are some out there.

Thanks Benson for replying. The scrolling I came across is from the Canola http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aQ62...eature=related
The maemo download seems interesting. I wish there are more games like Numptyphysics.

don't know of any brick and mortar stores with n810, but there are plenty of videos online that will show the n810 in lots of detail doing lots of different things.

If there is a Nokia Showroom by your place, then that is your best bet of playing with it hands-on.
I first saw the N810 at the Nokia Flagship Store in NY and actually held it and played with it a while before buying it.

As for the iTouch - just to to a Apple store and you can find a unit to play around with.

Ps : Whoops just checked the Nokia page http://nokia.us/A4411001
and sorry, there are only 2 stores in the whole of USA ? Incredulous !

Thanks Nilchak,
That's a bumper.
It's quite easy to find a apple store near me. But not Nokia. There are tons of carrier stores like AT&T, VERIZON that carries Nokia but all are phones !

There used to be a Fry's Electronics in Milipitas or Freemont on Mission Court. If the clientele is like it was in 1989-91, I'm sure on a Sunday morning every third geek who walks in will have an iTouch or an N8** (pro'ly both ).

People are friendly and mighty proud of their gadgets so they might let you try one out...

I got my first WinSocket from a guy I met there while we were standing in line on a Sunday... back in the day.

Thanks YoDude,
I just been to a nearby Fry's, but couldn't find N8X0, itouch is wrapped up and locked in window display (like as if it is a piece of gold), wonder how this would encourage sales.
Maybe someone in Silicon Valley who are selling their N810 could let me browse their MID ?

If you're travelling, you should find one at TigerDirect outlets.

I live in Fremont (and have a friend with a N810 in San Jose), and there are NO stores that carry the N810. Only online...

Apple stores carry the iPod, so no problem there

There is a educational suite available on the tablets. Its really huge though, and I forget what it is called.

<shameless plug>

Also, you can try out ezschool.com. All our games work on the small tablet screen, and they are designed for the younger crowd.

Oh, and please say if you think anything should be made better / if there are any problems!
