Yeah would be interesting if somebody is going for Aspen as first choice.
For me it is C,B,A and until now nobody asked for modem so far. So I guess they didn't put me for A.

Good question, there are a couple of questions and some speculation in the Purism forums about where these first phones have ended up. I would have expected to see a few unboxing videos by now, if they did ship. Most people understand "shipped" has having been handed off to a courier, but maybe the first batch is still waiting to reach a certain number of units before being sent out.

There is a video from someone who says that he is the first backer on Purism's Mastodon channel here: https://social.librem.one/@purism/102875669542336798

Video is from Ben Trister, Chairperson of the board Purism.

And regarding Aspen. They are continuing sending Aspen batch at the end of October. So there is still a change to get it.

" If you haven’t received a follow-up email from us verifying which modem you would like (and verifying your address), never fear, We send those emails out as we prepare each phone for shipping."

Edit:
My choices are:
A,B,C

Order date is 8. October 2017

Very informative.

All indications are that this project
is nailing the better part of functional security
in an excellent fashion.

Sailfish
has a magnificent future
as
abandonware.

You mean abandoned by you?

Jolla is focusing on governments and corporations for quite a while now because the community was not able to sustain them so I guess for SFOS itself nothing will change regardless of Librem 5 being a success or not.

I think you just answered your own question...
hardly abandoned by just one person...
"Jolla is focusing on governments and corporations for quite a while now because the community was not able to sustain them ..."
it isn't just theonelaw or a few folks, it is a lot of folks, and it is Jolla itself that is moving in a different direction ...and for good reasons, one of which you just mentioned.
Alt OS's and devices (running without the necessity of libhybris) being successful, spell the certainty of a slow demise for SFOS.

Love that "Peer" and "Selfish" ...made me chuckle with his pronunciation...

yeah.... purism probably developed more "core apps" or whatever you wanna call them then Jolla in 6 years. As a GNOME user I have to say that I don't use much of GNOME apps, terminal and Evolution are the only two probably because there are way better option. But on sailfish there are no other options and jolla just ignored that. Even their browser is worse then the one from GNOME suite.

And I have to say that I like what I see here when it comes to SW side of the project.

If you would reread your statement, you could well conclude that the community is already irrelevant for Jolla, i.e. Jolla has all but abandoned them. (Or rather had to abandon.)
If Jolla still cares about that community, they should thank F(x)tec/Chen (and Sony!) on their bare knees for providing the necessary consumer hardware.

Saying that Purism are doing what Jolla promised to do before going B2B/G is an understatement: Purism make it their business to be - purely - opensource!
The potential of Purism to syphon the (opensource!) community is thus quasi unlimited, i.e. the community abandons the Jolla ship.

Expect Purism to deliver far more in six years time than Jolla has in the same time span (simply counting from initial smartphone delivery). (Somehow Purism has already done so at this very moment of first delivery!)

PS
This is no criticism towards Jolla. I'm still using my Jolla 1 fulltime and am bound to stay put with Sailfish OS as long as ... sensible.
It's just that the (potential soft)force of opensource is simply huge, and I'm more than impressed by Purism, by what they achieve - past, present ... and future.
