Ok, this is really bad to quote yourself, but Qwerty12, do you have any thoughts about how hard it would be for developers to simply plug into applet you just made to do just this - if you will, depending on the state of the device as your applet reports, they either change to the appropriate wireless state or not.
To end-users, it would offer a way to see and regulate those applications individually which might be more battery-intensive; which should give better feedback towards power management strategies that can be utilized for Maemo 5 and beyond for developers.
Just a thought...
But the question that comes to mind is: How would this be done without causing disruption (I'd imagine the mode continually being switched when an application starts/stops wouldn't be pleasant) and handling mulitasking would be fun...

Admittedly, it could be done (replace the HildonButton with a HildonPickerButton and add a HildonTouchSelector with Dual, 3G and GSM in it) but, again, it would just make it time consuming. It would indeed be disruptive to the end-user experience. But, I'd wager that Nokia could stand for the positive Maemo press in being able to forward such an interaction between the application and wireless layers as something to enhance the customer experience considering current power limitations.

@ qwerty12 iv redone the icon, its abit smaller now and its now the correct size 48x48.....
the icon ..
I did it to fix the problem of text not being inline with the other options...
