Peter is dead on the money, and juice is as well.
The likelihood that your batt is just a little too low to escape looping and start the charge process.
And there are a number of chargers available as you juice and you have noted..
Best is to get a universal, so you can charge a variety of other battery types.

Nokia 7700 7710 9500 E61 E62 N800 N92 has same battery type and they can always charge or actually I am not sure with N800.

Allright, that would also have worked.
Even I think getting an universal charger is easier and cheaper
(N800 will have the same problem)

A new battery + universal battery charger worked great! Took a while to charge, but I put it in and it fired right up! Thanks everyone!
