From the man himself, device is 225g. Probably the heaviest device I've ever owned. Easily eclipses the 4g slide and G2 which were heavy in their own right. I won't pass judgement until I see more in depth reviews and possibly hold one myself
Xperia X with case, 229 g.
Planet Gemini, 300 g.

Well even the muuuuuuuuch smaller N900 weighs 180g, so who cares...
I see it positive. If I need a hammer and there is none ...

Almost wish they used lighter materials like plastic... Yes you can still make a plastic device feel premium - soft touch finishes, metal accents, etc
I wonder if they will partner with any local stores. I'd really like to demo the device before I buy it

Even so I agree with you, that it is not so hard to make a phone of plastic without feeling cheap. I don't think you would gain more than 20 g. The slider has to be made of metal, otherwise it wouldn't be durable.
Than you have the keyboard which weighs some grams. The screen weighs, the battery weighs...

Still this phone has the footprint of most plus sized phones plus the keyboard. Even if they saved 20g, every gram counts when you have to lug it around.
Lighter materials could've helped lower cost too maybe

But would you be able to tell 20g difference yourself, without relying on scales to measure it? I don't think even 100g would make a big difference to those who long waited for keyboard slider phone.

I'd love to go and try one of these out. I don't know many techies or mechanical engineers who could resist that lovely snappy hinge mechanism. So satisfying, even just in a video. Especially after years and years of boring flat slab flagships.

Sadly I will have to wait before I buy one of these - I needed a new phone a few months back and bought a Sony Xperia XA2 which should last me a while (and met the tight budget constraints) but brings me little joy.

One day!

Maybe they can do an event at their office in London to show off the phone and sell merch, I would certainly go.
