When N900 is under heavy load and locked the screen it's sometimes impossible to get inside because the unlock times out before my clicks get to the "Done" button. What process is responcible for the unlock screen? I want to try renicing it.

@ N900: Battery low. N950: torx 4 re-used once and fine; SIM port torn apart

The related packages are osso-systemui-devlock, libdevlock1, libdevlock-bin. You could also look into osso-systemui itself, if you have the same difficulties with slide-to-unlock screen (osso-systemui-tklock).
