Has anyone with an N810 or N800/OS2008 explored the video limitations yet?

400x240 <800kbps Xvid is pretty much what we have to work with on the N800/OS2007. But OS2008 brings additional formats and performance. So what works now?

640x480 Xvid ? H.264? WMV? I'm interested in anything

The manual specifies the supported formats and sizes. They were all either CIF or QVGA from what I remember (see the manual thread for the link to the PDF on the FCC webpage).

The N810 is supposed to have the same memory bandwidth issue that the N800 did (http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail//ma...er/012086.html & http://www.gossamer-threads.com/list...711;list=maemo)

The faster CPU should allow for decoding of larger frames and with colourspace conversion/scaling of these larger frames, but we're still stuck with the bandwidth to the LCD controller. I had hoped that upping the CPU clock rate might also up the bus speed between the OMAP and LCD controller, I don't know whether this is possible.

Serge will be able to better sumarise what that limit is (or someone can trawl through that thread to see what it is), though this may be more applicable to mplayer (which is heavily optimised) than to the GStreamer plugins which don't seem to be.

I just encoded couple of videos with iSquint to N800 and it can run h.264 videos fine. But what is the max. video bitrate to use? Audio should be 96 kbit/s

640x480, 2.8 Mbit/s AVIs recorded with Nokia N95 don't play too well. Picture is refreshed only every couple of seconds. Audio plays without choppiness, though.

So what hapens if I say encode the video with 640 x 480 2 mbit/s ? I really want to stretch the N800 to it's limits with the video
