That and your previous post sounds like you do not have anything else in MyDocs, so you may as well go ahead and format.

so format means I tap the n900 symbol an hold?
This will delete everyting in /home/user? Or at what level?
Press and hold on the drive icon in File Manager should offer a context menu with "format" being one option. But I am only speaking from memory, I might need to find my N900 and charge it up before I can try.

Affirmative.
As mine is always charged and (normally) with me I checked it for you. But I also needed to find the Nokia 'file manager' as I almost never used it but CuteExplorer or HamsterFiler...

just to make sure (since there was some "confusion" in this thread ) : MyDocs is a hook to the fat. If I format the N900 in the filemanager only the contents of MyDocs gets formated, I don't loose anything else (like messages etv)?

That's right. The N900's eMMC has three partitions. MyDocs is the fat one. You won't lose anything else by formatting it. Loose is something not fixed.

Whaaaat??? After a fresh format, you have only 19.6G free in your FAT partition? That does not sound right. What does 'df -h' say?

EDIT: marble works again btw. I will not use it right now just as a backup when I get to athens (have to drop of the car close to the acropolis; not sure how easy it is to find judging from my experience with greek road signs)

That definitely does not look right. I can understand bad sectors but... 8GB of them?
