While not actually a hardware thing, this recently crossed my mind:

Store/repository features
  • no geographic blocks by default, developers can select geographic avalability if they want to
  • for paid apps - wide range of payment methods (PayPal, carrier billing, global CC, Google checkout, Amazon Payments, Flattr,...)
  • for free apps - built in donation support (like for example in Mozillas addons repository)
  • scan-Qr-code-to-install support
  • possibility to respond to user feedback
  • quick QA
  • show changelog

Based on my experience with WebOS software catalog (implicit region locks + payments only by US,UK & GE credit cards, even though developers are paid using PayPal), PlayStore (no PayPal) and Ovi (no changelog, not possible to respond to user feedback).

What about adding in a functional front camera?

I'd use that more than anything else. On the road 200 days a year, I'd love not to have to fire up my laptop to do a video chat with my wife and son.

GPS too.

My N900 is used for the following, in ascending order:
  • Email corresponding
  • Web browsing
  • GPS
  • Music and podcast player (includes a lot over the fm transmitter as I drive a lot)
  • Camera

What comes in my mind is complete ubuntu linux with gnome classic desktop on N900 successor.

I imagine that one day there will be comfiz fusion run on linux smartphone
because I think it will be a powerful thing to attract many people to use that smartphone.
The unique thing that you'll never find on any ios or android mobile phone. (cmiiw)

Why N900 successor?
because I think physical keyboard is always required for any smartphone but still with touchscreen support of course.

And don't forget a good hardware support to run comfiz fusion with good battery support.

so my wishlist from jolla santa is:

-n950 like device, not bigger
-dual sim (@ same time) for work and private
-powerful battery couse of the n8 cam with autofocus
-mobile is able 100% to run android apps
-camera lens cover! protects and hw activates, just like by n900
-hw buttons (vol, pwr, cam, home!-note how difficult is f.e. by using sygic navi--power, phone, close it, than home)
-rgb function based front led
-replaceable battery
-not made for NASA, enough is 1G/720p/4"

A switch whereby the device state can be cycled between on and off is a must for me.
