Sorry, I neglected to mention that I am running CSSU Thumb - should the gui still work with Thumb or are you aware of compatibility issues?
Thanks
root apt-get install --reinstall python2.5-qt4-gui python2.5-qt4-core python2.5-qt4-maemo5 python-pyside.qtgui python-pyside.qtcore python-pyside.qtmaemo5 gngeo-gui
cd /home/user/.gngeo mv gngeorc gngeorc.bak
mv gngeorc.bak gngeorc

How about:
Choose config menu -> scoll down to "key def" button.
Then set the keys by entering the (ascii) value or by pressing the key itself (there are a lot of keys, don't define them twice)
Then go back to config menu, and press "SAVE" in the lower part of the config menu and you are done.

A few pages back:http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=383
Btw, you have succeeded in installing and running it now?
edit:
gngeo version 0.8.3 on the openpandora system has an option to strech 800x480, but I can't find that specific source.
