Sorry, I neglected to mention that I am running CSSU Thumb - should the gui still work with Thumb or are you aware of compatibility issues?

Thanks

I am running thumb2 myself.
The trace output did not give me any clue. At me moment I am thinking about the best next step in testing. I will update this post or add a new post for that.

Edit:
Okay, before we try anything with core dumps; let's try two more scenarios:

1. Reinstall some packages:
Code:
root
apt-get install --reinstall python2.5-qt4-gui python2.5-qt4-core python2.5-qt4-maemo5 python-pyside.qtgui python-pyside.qtcore python-pyside.qtmaemo5 gngeo-gui
And check if it has any effect.

2. Check the gngeo config file
Although gngeo itself works for you, maybe gngeo-gui has an issue with it

(as user)
Code:
cd /home/user/.gngeo
mv gngeorc gngeorc.bak
start gngeo-gui
restore the config afterwards:
Code:
mv gngeorc.bak gngeorc

A few pages back:http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=383

Btw, you have succeeded in installing and running it now?

edit:
gngeo version 0.8.3 on the openpandora system has an option to strech 800x480, but I can't find that specific source.

How about:
Choose config menu -> scoll down to "key def" button.
Then set the keys by entering the (ascii) value or by pressing the key itself (there are a lot of keys, don't define them twice)
Then go back to config menu, and press "SAVE" in the lower part of the config menu and you are done.

As I said: just press the related "key" button (for down player 1 for example). Then you can press a key on the keyboard, and the value will be filled in for you, there is no reason to find the number yourself.
