It is being manufactured by Foxconn which has one interesting implication:
It cannot contain Google Play (or any Google Play services) even if Nokia wanted. Foxconn also makes Kindle Fire which is against Google's rules and no device they make will therefore pass the Google Play certification.

Just noticed it's an x86 tablet. What are they up to there then? Would an ARM device violate the deal with MS?

Not supported by the chip.

Interesting business model though, license their design and the Nokia brand name to third party manufacturers.

That is not true according to this - https://gigaom.com/2014/11/18/non-mi...nd-z-launcher/
The N1 will also use the Z Launcher, which it launched in June, on top of Android “Lollipop” 5.0. And yes, that’s not a fork and it will include Google Play “in markets where Google Play is available”, a Nokia spokesman told me — in other words, probably not in China, where Google Play doesn’t handle paid apps and many Google services are in any case blocked these days.

usb 2.0 is a deal breaker!

If the bootloader is unlocked and this device had a usb 3.0 port it would be a day one purchase.
