if you are booted in leste and like an adventure you can try fstrim -v /dev/mmcblk1p1 (not sure it maybe /dev/mmcblk0p1)
to finally service "maemos vfat MyDocs" partition and maybe speed up your emmc writes.
It will even report how many spaces was marked free.
Be warned you may loose the opportunity to recover deleted files!
You could not do that from an old 2.6 kernel.

Abiword has also black menus so nonusable.
Caja filemanager also has blackmenus. Didn't create a desktop icon, started as sudo caja.
cwm window manager screensaver scales the same black odd mode as bleachbit in normal user mode.
Bleachbit works but only when run as root. As normal user the whole screen is quite black and scaled oddly but as root (with sudo) all looks normal.

Now I think that maybe last time upgrading the system did not break the wifi and because certain packages got upgraded so apps worked which do not this time (like telegram desktop). Not sure though.

At the moment trying different file managers. Only nnn and Nautilus so far working out of the box. Dolphin, Konqueror, caja, xfe all have problems either with dependencies or how they work.
I install, try, purge and autoremove and clean with bleachbit and try the next one.

Note to self:
If you are updating your system and use your mobile hotspot as a connection do not leave the house with your hotspot device and think N900 can update without connection.

I tried to upgrade the system with synaptic and it worked and wifi works too. Maybe I did something stupid while upgrading with xterm or something.
Now installed again telegram desktop but it launches only with sudo. Tried connecting. Internal server error straight. Installed telegram api from repo. Tried connect again. Now it ran for a while but gave the internal error still so what telegram did with the api is not yet fixed in repo.

When you do upgrade leave the device for a while and let it do it in peace. Reboot occurs and device seems dead for a while.

Notes to self:
1. Remember to run expandcard.sh script before upgrading Leste
2. When you remember you forgot to expand do not interrupt the upgrading process by closing xterm.
