Maemo 5 applications use GTK+/Hildon toolkit, some third party applications use plain Qt. This uses DirectUI(Harmattan UI framework), which is based on Qt's QGraphicsView. It's HW accelerated and designed specifically for resource constrained devices. GTK+ and plain Qt were designed for desktop applications in a time when such fluidity, animations or acceleration were not expected.

As I understand it, that's the outline. What exactly technically makes it so, I don't know.

Don' try to unistall it. It will make endless rebooting loop. I found out that on the hard way.

will maemo5 be updated in some way to utilize it? This is the responsiveness I expected.

Thanks alot for the video. Widget Gallery got me pretty much single handedly hyped for Harmattan. Everything just flowed like nothing else.... at least before the endless rebooting started.

tissot, i have the widget gallery installed... is there any way to *safely* uninstall it? i had no idea it could cause problems...

I don't have answer for that i fear.
It did take a day for me before it started the endless reboot cycle.
