Similar problems here. Widgets disappeared without even invoking Mediaplayer.
Just disappeared after connecting & disconnecting headphones.

This happened to me too, first time ever a few days ago. I had just installed an upgrade to the pedometer and *boom* all my widgets were gone, except one... I've never used the media player widget, nor had it on any desktop.

Same issue for me but different cause: when I try to change the wallpaper from the dropdown menu in the desktop edit mode, all widget disappear, and some of them automaticly reappear 2 or 3 seconds later.
So i want to set a new background, i have to do it from the pictures galley

It already did this before today's update, and I have no idea of what caused the problem. If it can help, my widgets are foreca weather, media player, calendar and dataplan monitor, but I think the problem is somewhere else sinced it worked before

- default weather
- touchsearch
- radio on/off
- command execution widget
- some shortcuts to apps and contacts*

they just disappear, except the ones marked with a *...

Any widget can cause hildon-home (process running all desktop widgets) to crash. If it happened, hildon-home restarts and loads only "safe" widgets.
If it's clear what widget caused the crash, please, file a bug report against the corresponding widget. If the crash is reproducible, one could remove widgets one by one and find the culprit.
Of course, hildon-home can crash by itself :-).
