Right. I am also divided.

Best we can try is to collect/share all definate and important info here.

Discord and Telegram are fine if you are looking for quick responses, which is not always the case on tmo if you need to troubleshoot sth quickly.
Also the messengers help to channel the chatter.
So imo it is about the right choice of measures.

That's the exact reason why we have this thread folks. The thread on TJC is also useful because it's a wiki, and many new SFOS users don't even know about TMO (which is a good thing, it means they don't all come from the Maemo era and we've had new comers).

Discord/IRC/Telegram/Whatever are all useful for instant discussion and answers, also much more convenient for testing stuff due to live chat. We have tried to forward all important information here and on TJC when significant milestones were reached, but we may have forgotten stuff that could still be found in the Discord pinned messages, though. It's a lot of work to make sure all information is reflected everywhere.

I can't deny that having multiple live chats is an issue and splits the information and the community, but on the other hand people have different preferences and do not all agree to use the same. There are partial bridges between those systems though. This is not a new issue. We could go for the Whatsapp paradigm and have everyone prisoner of the same chat protocol with no real choice because all their contacts are using it, but I think this would contradict what we value the most in here.

I don't have any proximity issues during calls in 3.3.0.16.

How do you update? I remember seeing the command somewhere in this thread but I don't remember what to search for.

You can use sfos-upgrade from Openrepos.net for instance (otherwise it's something with ssu re, but sfos-upgrade includes some checks and should be more robust in case of patches).

Just visited a shop with mobile phones. Showed my N900. "Of course people can use keyboard phones and send mail in botttles but there are easier ways". Did not have time to drop him down from his shattering castle.
