Is any way to take pictures on a timer with the N900 camera?

For example: group photo, place N900 on stand, set timer for 5s and jump in picture

EDIT: I created a brainstorm for this here. Vote away!

No my friend. The answer is NO. Until Nokia decides to implementing it, other wise not possible, It's a closed source app section of Nokia.

That's a shame, especially considering how the camera on the N900 is comparable with a lot of 'point-and-shoot' cameras on the market now.

A timer would be great.
The N900 takes acceptable pics. (I generally use only my SLR). I have had times when I wished it had a timer. That would really reduce the shake while taking still pics.
If Nokia opensourced the camera app, it would be cool. I am sure somebody will be able to take out something like the Canon Hack Development Kit soon for the N900.

Here's the bug I created for this. I don't have much hope for the whole bug voting process, but vote away if you believe in it!

Thanks for creating the report, though this is better suited in maemo.org Brainstorm instead...

Actually, there is a way. Search for a post about how to take a picture from the command line. I am on my way out, so I don't have time to do it for you. Use the Power Search feature above.

Got it, my apologies.

I created a brainstorm and added the link to the OP

Thanks! While this is excellent for me, I think it should be a feature of the "official" camera application so that non-technical people such as the girlfriend or parents can pick this thing up and configure it like a point-and-shoot camera
