What's the output from running "df -h /" in X Terminal?

I had the same problem (after enabling the extras-devel). everytime I check for updates or downloads from application manager it display: (no updates available)
and (no applications avaiable).

then I tried to use "apt-get update" from xterm:
Code:
/home/user # apt-get update
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (
2 No such file or directory)
E: Unable to lock the list directory
/home/user #
I created the above missing file (empty) and run the command again:
Code:
/home/user # apt-get update
E: Lists directory /var/lib/apt/lists/partial is missing.
I created the missing directory and run the command again.

this time the update worked but I run in another problem:
"Failed to truncate file - ftruncate ( 28 No space left on device)"

I disabled the extras-testing and extras-devel but still need more free space on rootfs to install important updates.

Again, what is dh -h / result?

Do you actually have the space for the cache? There's at least 15 MB of cache.

Did you install/run apps or scripts meant to free up root? Some move apt folders on /opt, but updating the device breaks those links, possibly leading to an unwritable state.

Post the output from the df command. Also check security on the folders and files you created.

I have the same problem. and it looks like everyone else here is getting it too. i was thinking that maybe when i OC'd the n900 it did this but i dont think everyone posting here has theirs OC'd.

i say this because when i restart the device and check app manager it suddenly works again even when i OC but only for a few hours or so. but who knows really. maybe like someone mentioned here, it might be the PR1.2 coming.

so weird its doing that but so lame. the funny part is it says all of that but it still shows most of the applications in the downloads even with the repositories not being 'updated'.

Check that ovi repository is OK. Make sure you don't have odd repositories enabled that publish older versions for the dependencies. Also, they might have not been updated to 1.2 correctly. Anyone else installed those?

Ovi repository is like this
Name - Ovi
Address - https//downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle1.2/ovi/
Distribution - ./
and it doesn't allow me to change anything. So the repository is ready for PR1.2...

As for FBReader there's a message stating;
Can't install FBReader application packages missing - libfribidi0(>=0.10.4-5)

For other applications like fMMS is updating normally

Failing to update are the following catalogs
- Nokia applications
- Software updates
- Ovi

thanks for any help
