Looking at the pictures on DealExtreme I can see what looks like a mini usb port. Can anybody confirm this? Any ideas what it is for? Also how is this reader holding up for sturdiness, considering that if i get it, it'll likely spend its life in my tool box? Its difficult to guage the quality of materials from a picture.

yes, that is a usb port. I'm not absolutely certain; but I believe it is an alternative interface. Plug it into your laptop and it shows up as a virtual serial port. For machines with no bluetooth.

The box is hard plastic, and mine is glued together really well. I tried to pry it apart to examine the components; but I was unable to do so (I didn't want to break it.) The only thing I would worry about is that the BT/Serial module would come unseated. But I think they wedged it in there really well. And if it did, it'd be fairly easy to fix.

So, as long as you don't put the toolbox in a dryer or paint mixer, I think it would survive fine.

Hi, could everyone post the scantool you have and if it is working or not? We've just included the support to Blutrax and mYOoByDic in the beta1-9.

Also, were you able to use other map repositories other than openstreet?

Well I just got mine in the mail today (took just about month from the order date, taking into consideration holiday delays, etc, and also it was out of stock). I'll be testing this in a '06 Mazdaspeed6. I'll post up my findings soon enough!!

Well I did a real quick test in my Speed6 (just turned the car on) and it worked great.

Since the roads were still bad, I took my dad's '98 Mazda MPV 4x4, and tested it out, and it also worked great. The bonus was his check engine light went on a few days ago, so I got to test it out. Now it only shows a part of the code (as it is quite long) how can I read more of the code, or find more info on it?

Get a terminal and send an 03 pid request (normally by typing "03" then return).
(04 will clear the codes after you read them).

Just received the dongle and tried on my VW Golf TDI '97. It connects with the N800 without problems. Carman works great with it. I just shot a short movie:

Ordered and received this dongle from DealExtreme. Works great with my N810 and my '06 Mazda3 GT Sport. I'm planning on doing some tests vids while driving, to show off all the changes while at speed and shifting. I can say the the Acceleration Test is fun to use. I wish there was also a 1/4 mile (400 m) test as well.

Anyways, I'll try and record the video when I can, I'll just have to get someone to record while I drive... holding a camera towards the tablet while driving and shifting and switching screens in Carman would be difficult and/or dangerous.
