Umm. No. It's not placebo as you make it out to be. Have you actually tried overclocking it to 1GHz or higher on your N900? You do know what the difference between 600MHz and 1GHz is right? If so, why lie to people with the above statement? (about it not making it more smooth/snappy/fluid etc)

I can easily show you the difference between 600MHz stock and 1Ghz on my N900. It is faster and more responsive. Totally noticeable in many everyday tasks. Even during sliding through the desktops. (Yes, it is supposed to be GPU accelerated. But CPU is providing the "data" to the GPU and the improvement definitely can be seen by eye.)

btw, seems these CPUs in the N900 have been made with quite a good yield and specification as many can run at ~1GHz without any issues. Yes, some people go on about it reducing its lifetime etc. (which is all theory btw. If the CPU isn't stressed enough, the lifetime of the CPU is near identical.)

If we had everything identical except upgrade the CPU to some dual-core 1GHz CPU, I'll bet that N900 will suddenly feel like a whole new phone when multi-tasking and in overall snappiness (app install times, loading times etc).

I installed multiboot-kernel-power and there is no items in the multiboot menu. I tried to click 0 and it just gave me this error message:
"Canīt flash kernel, required files not found.
Guru meditation #00000025.62017712

Hit any key for panic"
Kernel: kernel-power v47
OS: maemo PR1.3 CSSU
And I have ext4 file system on /home/ partition.

EDIT:
Flashed the default kernel and now it opens new window with list when I click 0, but there is only content kernel field and it reboots after couple seconds. How can I replace the bootloader?

EDIT:
It starts booting with this, but then something happens and it shuts down
Code:
./flasher-3.5 -l -k zImage-2.6.28.10-power47 -b

I am right now at 1100min 1100max. IT DEFINITELY feels snappier even compared to 1000min 1000max.... the default 600mhz clock definitely pails in comparison to the current clock now. I unfortunately get mixed results when clocked at 1100minmax, so I'm more inclined to put 1000minmax lv as my default profile. whenever i go 1100minmax, i use the default profile and sometimes i can run videos without any problems...

but 1000min max is well enough for me...

apt-get will fetch from repository and it will always be the latest v47. i had .deb files (wl1251 kernel), i reinstalled .deb files, the packages automatically gets replaced. Reboot and you are done

always do it in the following order

Code:
dpkg -i <kernel>
dpkg -i <headers>
dpkg -i <modules>
dpkg -i <flasher>
and then

Code:
reboot

The correct way is to tell apt-get which version you want to install
Code:
apt-get install kernel-power=2.6.28-maemo46 kernel-power-modules=2.6.28-maemo46 kernel-power-headers=2.6.28-maemo46 kernel-power-flasher=2.6.28-maemo46
