For me, that doesn't matter. I carry an Android phone for calls. I can tether with it, so I'll get my Pyra's network connection via WiFi from my phone.

Should be technically possible see thread

@Ken-Young Great to see you supported the project - they already have enough pre-orders to make a batch of 700 Pyra's and I am sure they will make 1000 at least. I was kinda worried that the project would have difficulties reaching that goal due to the competition of the GPD Win but apparently they can coexist.

Sign me up for the 4g mobile.
Has a real keyboard,
can (probably) make phone calls,
is not an Android/Windows thingy,
runs Debian as shipped.

Already spent far too much more money on other fails,
this is not a difficult choice.

The pyra looks like a great successor to N810. Considering the OS, hardware, and size. (Even with 4G you can't make handheld phone calls like N900, so I think N810 is more accurate.)

I am attampted.

I should have written gigabyte, not 4G:
4gigabyte

They say they are not yet sure which chips,
so am betting they eventually decide to use
something that does voice.
( which probably means 3G, not 4G,
as voice firmware for linux will be scarce)

Well, I do like it. Screen size is good. I wish it had a smaller footprint. If I'm going carry two devices I might as well just take my Lenovo Thinkpad which has Ubuntu on it anyways. So, at this point I don't see an urgent need but that could change! Could this device be used as a controller for, say, drones for example? Also is the price, of order $600 a down payment or the total price? Thanks!

Linux on Priv?
Priv is for "private"
ain't happening soon.
For good reason.
Blackberry has to look competent security wise.
Can't afford opening things up.
Best you will see is Priv with Android .

Same would go for the passport.
Although...
I have read of android on the passport... and seen on ebay some passports with android running on them.
I do like the screen dimensions on the passport..though...
and almost like the minimalist pseudo keyboard ()
but it would be nice with more options than either failed bb os or android....

Yep, it's why I deleted the post, a hard-locked device. For the sake of pseudo-privacy.

How they destroyed the only new hwkb device of the last 3 years I know about.

The Pyra uses the same modem(s) like the Neo900, and dos1 said, that he'd make sure the fso suite would work on the Neo900 under Debian.
There were also some people in the Pyra community who said, they'd work on phone functionality for the Pyra, afair based on zenity.
So I'd think it's just a matter of time.

In principle yes. [1][2] The details depend on how the drone is controlled.

The down payment is 330 or 400 Euros, depending on the edition (with or without modem). The final price will be 500-626 Euros (+VAT), also depending on the edition. [3]
