Egg Nog and spiced rum...
The only drink at X-mas time I do alcool ...
other than my heavily dosed glog recipe.
Ah Eggnog and spiced rum!
The fortifying drink.
Not only does it make one increasingly fuzzy around the edges without realizing it...([I've taken note extensively of the effects) eventually a comfy bed or chair or couch and a blanket seem to send the drinker into slumber land...only to awaken and imbibe more
)
It is also an excellent temporary meal replacement therapy
Works for after dinner around the fireplace,
Works for a lunch substitute,
Works even as a breakfast substitute..
Fabulously nutritious ...
(well not my gran's version...and perhaps too much rum is not a good thing ..but it would take an awful long time to drink alot of rum considering proportionate mixing...)

Hm.
Perhaps we need a recipe thread corner here...
I do have some fabulous recipes of my gran and great gran ..
pinch of this dash of that ...
easy to do ...real feel good food...meatloafs, shepherd's pies, chowders, good food. few simple basic ingredient's ...simple instructions...mouth drooling foods...
On the odd end of the recipe spectrum...
my great gran lived waaayyyy up north...
so has recipes for porcupine, beaver, moose, all kinds of interesting recipes one normally cannot find the produce for in stores...

You can't just buy a bottle of eggnog in the UK/US? In Holland creamy eggnog (14% alcohol) is available in almost every liquor store. Very tasty with a bit of sweetened whipped cream.
