updated and tried the restore. it restored all my repos.
Bad: It didn't enable the maemo extras repo which was when i did the backup, i had to manually install python runtime, it failed on installs where i didn't use application manager to install which was only 2, and the app restore failed a few times for no apparent reason.
Good:I like that i didn't have to add all the repos, it keep the list of apps that needed to be restored until they were all done so i didn't have to go through one by one to install, it did that automagically for me.
It isn't completely 100% yet but much better than the restore experience in os2007.

I've got the first image and did an "apt-get dist-upgrade". Now after rebooting I see "RX44 2007-43 1" on the startup screen.

i even have "applications" as last an 8th entry in the backup tool.
strange that i get i higher version when upgrading thru dist-upgrade?!

ps: do you os2008-on-n800 flashers out there all have those green text above the nokia logo when booting?

i got the following:
initfs version:
osso-RX-44 2007-43 1

component versions:
product RX34
hw-build 1302
nolo 1.1.6

You're still in r&d mode. Hook it up like you're going to flash it again, and do a "./flasher(which ever version you're using) --disable-rd-mode" Then unhook the nokia and reboot.
