Works for me. I've even run a Windows app under Wine remotely over x/ssh.

How do you the access extended symbols menu while using a remote X application such as gedit? I can ssh into my ubuntu machine and although I can type stuff in the gedit window, I cannot access the tilde ~ character or the circumflex ^, which I was planning to use for LaTeX.
I tried running my remote firefox and it didn't work.

I've been using X forwarding for a while on my diablo tablet. I use it mainly over my local network and usually to do some editing via gimp or a to look at a complicated document. The default hildonized windowmanger doesn't do so great with most windows, however I usually use LXDE via easy debian or deblet and send the applications over to that display.

Its pretty easy with ssh keys to set up an automated script to ssh over to my server run openoffice and send the display back to lxde. There I can resize it, full screen it or stick it in some dsektop for use when I need it.

Cheers.
