The deficiencies I've read of are:
  • Non user-changeable battery (without tools anyway)
  • No microSD card
  • Fixed focus camera
  • No external camera lens cover (there is one blow the external glass though)
  • Question marks over OS longevity
  • Relatively low powered CPU (though the performance is supposed to be pretty good despite this)

All there's been are short previews so far though, so longer reviews may bring out more issues.

We are answering your question by telling you to STEER CLEAR of the n8 as long as it runs Symbian.

It runs Symbian so NO its not stable, NO its not fast, NO its not a good buy.

i think you are thinking of the e7 for some of these

the n8 does have microsd and does have focus for camera

also, while the cpu is underpowered by todays mobile computer standards, the gpu is one of the fastest, strange beast

You're right - they're so similar on specs otherwise that I get them confused at times.

Yes, as I said, performance is supposed to be pretty slick, but I just worry about how it'll handle more processor-intensive tasks.

Probably there will be lots of reviews when N8 is officially released. Or when RTM version is hands of reviewers.
It has nothing to do with maemo, thus it's already in the correct subforum.

I'm asking (for this exercise) because this thread is about recommendation for/against N8 anyway, and to illustrate that getting the 'research' may not be so straightforward; since there are loads of fanboys + antifanboys spewing their conflicting PoV.

If anyone is thinking about buying the n8 why don't you wait and see what the initial reaction will be.

Apparantly people who have pre-ordered the n8 will start getting them in October.

Wait and see what real users think of it.

Was the 3650 released after that one?

The video clips that show off the GPU are impressive, but the video clips that demonstrate the OS and the CPU are show stoppers.

I don't care how good the camera is, there is no way this phone is a must buy. Quite the opposite.
