Hello,

As a noob I have been browsing alot about overclocking, and made myself a list of actions i will follow exactly step by step. I just want someone to confirm i'm on the right track so i don't make anything stupid... Here goes:

1. Install "rootsh"
2. Install "Enhanced Linux Kernel for power users (settings)"
3. Install "Kernel-power-flasher"
4. Reboot
5. in xterminal:
5.1 sudo gainroot

5.2 /usr/sbin/kernel-config load lv

5.3 /usr/sbin/kernel-config limits 250 850

5.4 /usr/sbin/kernel-config save myprofile1

5.5 /usr/sbin/kernel-config default myprofile1

6. Reboot

If i do this, nothing more nothing less, will it go well for me? During step 5 i was not sure if it's /usr/sbin/kernel-config or just kernel-config before the commands, seemed like different posts said different things.

Thanks in advance

or you could install cpufrequi, and overclock with a single swipe

Ok, I have not heard of those two. Which one do you recommend the most? I want to overclock, and have it overclock and not having to worry about voltage or anything... Most likely just aiming for 850ish mhz... What does those apps require, just download and I will see for myself how to use em?

EASY MODE:

read carefully, and yes you do want to change voltages.

to check that your settings have 'stuck' type

Code:
kernel-config show
and you should see your settings.

Easy mode (ii)

Install rootsh

Open Terminal

Code:
root
apt-get install kernel-power-settings
kernel-config load lv
kernel-config limits 250 850
kernel-config save profile myprofile1
kernel-config default profile myprofile1
exit
exit
Condensed your original to make it easier. Easiest. Shortest.

Thanks! Will try this when I've charged my phone. How's the performance difference between max 600 and max 850? Notable? Can't wait to try it out!!

Mine sits on 1Ghz all day every day. Massive performance gain. When streaming *.flv's I crank it up to 1.15Ghz. Again. notable performance gain. With it comes notable temperature gain too.

Watch you don't fry your chip. Step by step, increase, test, increase, test, increase, test, bork, change voltage, redo, test, increase, test, increase, bork, change voltage, etc ad nauseum.

Gotta love OC'ing.
