I use the hw keyboard all the time...since I got the device dec 2009....never used the virtual one....so far no probs

4-5 times a day.Using since dec 2009.No problem so far with slider and USB port.

An easier question to answer is "how many times do I use the onscreen keyboard?" The answer is: Never.

I hardly ever use the N900 without the keyboard open. Even if I don't use it to type, it's better to hold the device this way.

I always open up the keyboard when I use the N900 and that's very often. I have the N900 for a year now and the slider still works and feels like the first day.

With syslog installed you can just count the open/close intervals as there will be a message in logfile each time the state changes.
I got about 140 entries since last saturday night.

Very, very rarely... but glad it's there when I need it!

But I almost always use the onscreen keyboard.

Same here - I treat the usb port with care. That said, I've had no problems with it either.
