Works fine for me too I found a very good fix right away. Now the screen calibration WORKS! It didn't work for me on older firmware versions, no matter what I did it was always few pixels off. The whole screen was even replaced once on service. But now it worked right away, sweet

Yes, and you can download the maps from within the program, just no navigation yet.

No.. It reports that...

The software on your Nokia N800 was not updated, because the update file is not supported by your device.

Also, for those using XP, I suggest using a liveCD. I used sabayon, but if you want a quick and easy one, try using puppylinux (60 meg download.)

Burn it to a disc, download the flasher-3.0 file as well as the .bin file, and open up the terminal.

And here are some quotes from that article for those not wanting to leave the comfort of this thread...

This afternoon, members of the Internet Tablet Talk forum website posted a link to the much anticipated 2008 update of the N800/N810 software along with some fairly nudge-nudge wink-wink instructions for evading the serial number check...

Go to the N810 software download page...

....Download the file named "RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin"
Download the latest firmware upgrading software, 'flasher-3.0'.
Now that you have the firmware flasher and the 2008 N800 software update in the same directory, open up a terminal (on a Linux desktop/laptop) and type:
chmod a+x ./flasher-3.0
./flasher-3.0 -u -F RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
That will unpack the software, and may take a few seconds. Once that is done, plug the N800 into your computer using the included USB cable, reboot the Nokia device while holding the home button. Now, execute the following commands:
./flasher-3.0 --enable-rd-mode
./flasher-3.0 -k zImage -f
./flasher-3.0 -n initfs.jffs2 -f
./flasher-3.0 -r rootfs.jffs2 -f -R

That should be it. Your device should now boot up with the new 2008 version of the Nokia Maemo OS.
