Alright guys here it is

So please first install easy-chroot (you don't need easy-debian if you don't wanted)

Uninstall the previous .deb file (if you installed it)

Remove all ubuntu related files including /home/user/MyDocs/ubuntu-m5-v1.2.img.ext2

Uncompress the file ubuntu.img.ext2 in your n900 or in your computer (recommended) and transfer it to MyDocs or in your sdcard

Install ubuntu-N900.deb with app-manager or with dpkg -i ......

Please feedback any result.

Thanks

- uninstalled easy debian and easy ubuntu, deleted all related files, including .ext image file(s).

- extracted fresh ubuntu-m5-v1.img.ext2 to MyDocs

- downloaded .deb and installed it via app.man, no problems; running on easy debian chroot only

- during LXDE initialization i get prompted by "GTK+ icon theme not properly set... don't have XSETTINGS manager running... two choices: 1. run an XSETTINGS manager, or 2. simply specify an icon theme in ~/gtkrc-2.0...."
did not run xsettings man. nor specify icon theme; by clicking "ok" allows the DE to initialize without further problems

- LX terminal launches but doesn't show user/root@, just a blinking cursor

- firefox throws the same profile setup issue, see my post before

- soft center crashes when launched from maemo main menu

Hi Juan, It's a good News. Did you finally managed to have other icons on desktop and copy/paste/create icons and folder on the desktop???
I'm just downloading the New Ubuntu!

edit: I tried to download http://ubuntuone.com/p/Uh3/ many times, both with Opera and Safari, it only downloads 6.3Mb.
Can you verify it please??

Juandp: Could you please clarify something for me.

For Ubuntu/Fedora - All we do now is just dpkg -i the *.deb files you have uploaded?

Are there any major differences between these an the original ones we downloaded? My Ubuntu seemed to be working fine since day one (when you started this thread) and fedora just has the keyboard issue.

you can install the .debs using terminal (dpkg -i) or with the app-manager

Changelog:

* keyboard focus fixed in fedora
* power button fixed
* new wallpaper by default
* copy/paste/create folder on the desktop fixed
* Ubuntu Software Center
* New set of icons on hildon
* Completly new scripts used to get access to ubuntu/fedora as root or as user
* New script to unmount all linux distros (debian-fedora-ubuntu) at once in order to be able to use usb mass storage mode
* And of-course easier to install
