Question: Why would any sane person want a LED screen?

As a person who has spent time replacing many many different mobile phone screens the drivers from one screen to another screen are pretty much the same, even the connectors are the same!

The problem would be the length/angle/shape of the flexible ribbon.

Perhaps the best candidate is the Nokia N8 or some other Nokia OLED phone.

It's very very likely that the screen will 'just work', but you just won't be able to fit it in without breaking the ribbon.

EDIT:

N8 and N900 connectors look same.

Really? What a good news!

Assuming that we can replace N900 screen with N8 screen, could the fact that N8 screen is a capacitive one be a problem?

Too bad N8 uses an nHD resolution (360x640). As a person who once spent 2 hours replacing an 6600 screen.

Perhaps, but we are not touching the digitizer. I don't see why that should make a difference - the screen resoltion might cause issues.

Only one way to find out - try it!

I installed my n900 inside a 28 inch plasma television.
It worked flawlessly, however holding up a 2 foot stylus gets tiring after a while.

i found an ingenious if somewhat temporary solution to install whatever i wanted on my n900. this will work for ios4, wm7, android or installing xp on your n900. haven't tried installing an led screen but i'm sure it'll work if you follow the instructions carefully.

1. remove back cover.
2. dip back cover in liquid lsd and wait to dry.
3. replace cover.
4. think really hard about the mods you want to make whilst licking back cover.
