It's relatively new (they opened for business this year if I'm not mistaken).

I decided to test out some things, and here's clear evidence that YouTube, among other things, is being throttled on Mobilicity.

Measurements taken using DU Meter. The horizontal line on the graph is set at 2.0 Mbps, vertical grid lines are spaced every 30 seconds.

Test 1
TV Show (Usenet)
Video length: 21:27

I was able to stream this video after approximately one minute (the time to download the first 20,000KB segment).

Code:
Start time 11/24/2010 20:42:14
Stop time 11/24/2010 20:56:01
Elapsed time 13 min 47.0 sec
                                             Incoming Outgoing
------------------------------------ ---------------- ----------------
Total of data transferred 186.4 MB 3.7 MB
Maximum transfer rate 308.9 KB/s 6.1 KB/s
Average transfer rate 230.8 KB/s 4.5 KB/s

Test 2
Music Video (YouTube)
Video length: 5:08

This video was unwatchable, as it would stop to buffer every 10 seconds or so. To watch it uninterrupted, you'd have to pause it and let it load for about 6 minutes before you hit play.

Code:
Start time 11/24/2010 21:38:41
Stop time 11/24/2010 21:49:49
Elapsed time 11 min 7.6 sec
                                             Incoming Outgoing
------------------------------------ ---------------- ----------------
Total of data transferred 35.1 MB 694.2 KB
Maximum transfer rate 137.9 KB/s 9.0 KB/s
Average transfer rate 53.9 KB/s 1.0 KB/s

can you verify the APN you used is wap.davewireless.com
can you specify if you had their proxy 10.100.3.4:8080 enabled or disabled? i found it got the settings automatically, but it left the proxy disabled. works fine but i didn't check for throttling like you did.

hi there, can one of you guys please confirm...

1. whether the sms text time stamp is not off by 4 or 5 hours? This is a problem on the f-ing stupid Rogers network with N900. I've been trying to hack the phone to resolve this for my wife.

2. whether you can send and receive MMS messages OK. Rogers is able to get N900 to receive MMS but not send using fMMS. I know it's not the phone because I can use a T-mobile sim card and send/receive MMS just fine.

n900fan75,

1. SMS was also off for me when I was with Rogers, when I moved to Mobilicity you will be happy to know that the time is correct.

2. Sorry, Unfortunately I do use MMS

excelar8,

I am in Vancouver and using the N900, and the service has been good so far the call quality is great, there are a few dead zones but otherwise a good network.

You can definitely notice that this is a new network (dead zones) but that is expected and hopefully they will be able to work out the kinks in the coming future.
