Symbols are scattered throughout the shifted and unshifted regular and "1#+" virtual keyboard pages. Is there a particular symbol that you're after?

Did you try tapping "1#+" and then the shift button as suggested above?

You can use virtual keyboard, or...

Press Fn key, and then Ctrl. You'll see those characters.

I can't seem to make the additional characters/symbols pop up after pressing Fn,and then Ctrl.

Has this occurred to anyone before? How can I fix this, can anyone help?

I have tried rebooting but no luck.

EDIT: I installed MSCIM Chinese pinyin input - I just found out it disables the virtual keyboard, maybe this disabled the Additional Characters menu too? It is still in extras-devel, the MSCIM input...

I removed it but I still can't make the additional chars pop up, do I have to reflash?

@kureyon: Thanks for the link. However I already fixed the problem by following the instructions within comment 14 in this bug report:https://code.google.com/p/scim-for-m...s/detail?id=23

In case anyone still has the same problem:
---
1. Download rootsh
2. open a web browser and come to this current page.
3. open your X-terminal
4. type -> sudo gainroot
5. copy and paste -> rm -f /etc/event.d/scim
6. copy and paste -> /usr/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 > /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules
7. Off and on your phone again.

This is what I've done to make my virtual keyboard work again. (I am using PR 1.2)
After step 5 and 6, there is nothing that will appear to show you that smth is actually being done, so just continue.. I hope it will clear some of your doubt and make ur phone work again.
