Not sure if that's the reason but it seems that list itself is indeed popping up very quickly but it takes considerably longer to populate it with all apps. Might be that reading comment entry from .desktop which slows it down a bit, what do you think?

Considerably longer? Hm.
I can disable searching in comments and compare the results.

It might be an impression, as with previous version it sometimes took quite a while to display a list with all results populated, while now list comes in quickly while population isn't finished yet. ;)

Anyway, see the difference without comments and let us know.

if so then it's imo better than not to give any feedback to user. With slow startup user might tap icon multiple times.

@nicolai
Great now it starts fast!

-should population be run first after install and save results to txt file and after that user should refresh list
-or should it populate it on background so that it doesnt show list growing(animation slowsthings down?) but lets user write app name and executes search after the population is ready?
-search in description imo could be optional/set as default on and from settings could be taken off
any toughts about these?

great app! I rarely use menu anymore

Of course, I agree. I'm just wondering whether adding a feature of reading comments entry from .desktop file might have an impact here.

Does this application would have icon in the applications menu? So that it can launch from "Quick Launch" DrLauch, etc.

No difference. I tested both, with searching in comments and without.
It tooks nearly the same time.

@whitewolf:
quicklaunch already has the function to search for applications.
DrLaunch can only start application shortcuts, no desktop widgets.
