Thank you to the help received here, I fixed a problem I was having using the FM Transmitter with Media Player. I purged media player files and reinstalled, now it works again. The fix was to enter the following as root:
Code:
dpkg -P mediaplayerhomeapplet
dpkg -P mediaplayer
apt-get update
apt-get install mediaplayerhomeapplet
Thanks again for the advice and help. Just thought I'd post the step-by-step for anyone else having the same issue. Media Player was just broadcasting silence over the FM transmitter before the fix.

The problem was software related. My FM transmitter was working, just the Media Player was broadcasting silence over FM signal. The media player worked through internal speakers or headphones, though. After purging and reinstalling Media Player, it broadcasts over FM as it should when the FM transmitter is turned on.

The fix does nothing to FM signal strength. It just purges Media Player application files and re-installs them. Someone posted that the problem may be due to me experimenting with different applications, including experimental ones.

That is why you purge mediaplayerhomeapplet first before purging mediaplayer.

Glad the fix worked for someone else.
